CORGI has launched a voluntary gas registration scheme in the Channel Islands at the request of the Health and Safety bodies on Guernsey and Jersey.
This will create a register of competent gas installers to offer home owners reassurance as to the abilities of installers and to promote the gas industry as professional and skilled to the general public.
Installers will be able to obtain qualifications through their local community colleges and then achieve CORGI registration through bespoke PRA (Pre-Registration Assessment) inspections. If the PRA is passed then the installer will have full access to the range of CORGI support services currently available to installers on the mainland, Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man, where mandatory gas schemes exist.
Says CORGI Channel Islands Registration Manager Keith Needham, “As the scheme is voluntary, installers are under no obligation to join the register but those that invest their time to achieve a level of competence will be well advantaged in the marketplace.”
To find a registered installer on the Channel Islands, please contact CORGI the usual way, either by phone on 0870 401 2200 or via the on-line search facility at www.corgi-group.com.
