If you know of an organisation, company or body, which has gone to extra lengths to raise awareness of gas safety in the home, then CORGI wants you to tell the National Home Improvements Council’s (NHIC).
For the third year running, the gas safety watchdog is sponsoring the ‘Gas Safety in the Home’ category of the NHIC’s prestigious Annual Awards scheme. The category is one of 12 Awards designed to celebrate different aspects of renovation and urban renewal.
The NHIC Awards have been running for several decades and are the UK’s highly respected guide to home and environmental improvements. Winners will be announced at a special Awards luncheon hosted by NHIC President Lord Ezra at the Gladstone Library in Whitehall, London in November.
Entries for this category are invited from employers, landlords, local authorities and housing associations, retailers or any organisation, which has introduced a project or initiative to help improve gas safety among others.
This could be anything from the introduction of an administrative policy, which improves the efficiency of gas safety management, to a campaign aimed at raising awareness of gas safety issues among residents or staff.
Last year’s winner was Renfrewshire Council, which was praised by judges for going beyond the legal requirement of a landlord. The council ensured carbon monoxide (CO) detectors were installed in all their properties and that gas appliance safety devices were fitted, wherever access was a problem.
Organisations interested in submitting an entry for the ‘Gas Safety in the Home’ Award can request an NHIC Awards 2004 brochure and application pack by calling Graham Ponting on 020 7828 8230 or emailing [email protected].
Further information and an entry form can also be obtained by logging-on to www.nhic.org.uk.
